Kenny Dunkan - BIDIM BLO!
BIDIM BLO! is the first institutional solo exhibition by Kenny Dunkan in Germany. Through sculpture, photography, video, and entire spatial installations, the artist creates a diverse and visually striking world. Dunkan’s works are characterised by dichotomies: between craft and design, pop and high culture, fetish and playfulness, detail and totality, minimalism and overloaded execution. It is through the interplay of these different elements that Kenny Dunkan develops an emancipatory formal language and succeeds in conveying critical themes with ease and sensitivity.

Mit BIDIM BLO! zeigt basis e. V. die erste institutionelle Einzelausstellung von Kenny Dunkan in Deutschland. Mittels Skulptur, Fotografie, Video und ganzer Rauminstallationen erschafft der Künstler eine vielfältige und bildgewaltige Welt. Dunkans Arbeiten sind von Dichotomien geprägt: zwischen Handwerk und Design, Pop-und Hochkultur, Fetisch und Verspieltheit, Detail und Gesamtheit sowie Minimalismus und überladener Ausführung.

Since the origins of the modern discipline of design in the course of industrialization, theorists and designers have repeatedly asked themselves what role design plays in the relationship between humans, nature and technology. This question is all the more relevant today, in view of the increasingly dramatic climate change.

Seit den Ursprüngen der modernen Disziplin des Designs im Zuge der Industrialisierung, fragen sich Theoretiker:innen und Designer:innen immer wieder, welche Rolle dem Design im Verhältnis von Mensch, Natur und Technik zukommt. Diese Frage stellt sich heute umso mehr, angesichts eines sich immer dramatischer zuspitzenden Klimawandels.
