We are happy to be hosting the very first institutional solo show in Germany by Argentine artist Amalia Pica in Germany from September 13 to October 28, 2012. Amalia Pica’s art hinges on her interest in a wide range of different communications forms and realizes them in far-sighted site-specific works. Her sculptural, filmic and performative pieces as well as her installations explore communication not as a discursive phenomenon but attempt to develop an aesthetic language of her own. Thus, her works seem to be models or signs of communicative acts and their social, political and historical interlinkages.
Staging art as an instrument for inter-personal interaction repeatedly points to the bsic underlying pattern of the artistic process itself. Amalia Pica’s works are often playful and champion aesthetic experience as an act that succeeded in formulating alternative and complex statements compared to linguistic forms of interaction.

Amalia Pica (born in 1978 in Argentina) lives and works in London. Her work has been on show in countless international solo and group shows (selection): 2012 Amalia Pica Chisenhale Gallery, London; Silence Menil Collection, Houston; Future Generation Art Prize 2012 PinchukArtCentre Kiev; The Ungovernables New Museum, New York, Amalia Pica/ Karsten Födinger Kunsthalle St. Gallen, Switzerland; 2011 ILLUMInations, 54. Biennale, Venice, Italy; The Walls That Divide Us apexart, New York; Amalia Pica: Endymion’s Journey MARC FOXX Los Angeles; Weltraum – Die Kunst ein Traum Kunsthalle Vienna, Austria.
