Production and Exhibition Platform basis e.V.
basis e.V. has supported and presented international contemporary art in Frankfurt since 2006.
Based on the use of vacant properties throughout the city, the association implements a three-stage funding model to initiate diverse creative processes in the urban community at a local level, promote artistic discourse and connect Frankfurt internationally with creative production locations.
Exhibitions
The curated exhibition programme by basis e.V. showcases contemporary artistic perspectives in contemporary international art through thematic group and comprehensive solo presentations. Readings, lectures, concerts and performances complement the programme. Admission is free.
Studioprogramme
basis e.V. currently offers a total of 120 affordable workspaces for around 150 creative profesionals at five central locations. The funding period is six years. All users of the basis studios have access to a project room measuring approximately 100 square metres on a weekly basis, where they can present their current projects and work results to the public or a select group of visitors. Moreover, basis e.V. offers the ‘Hessisches Atelierprogramm’ (HAP) – a funding model that encompasses various programmes for artists working in Hesse.
Exchangeprogrammes
Within the context of the various exchange programmes, international up-and-coming artists and curators are given the chance to gain new perspectives on their own praxis and to network internationally in the course of working scholarships lasting several months in Frankfurt and aspiring art centres worldwide. Additionally, basis e.V. supports artists from crisis and conflict regions through various residency programmes.
The question of the social role and localisation of art is always a central motif in the work of basis e.V.
