We are delighted to be presenting an installational series of drawings by Adrian Nießler and Peter Müller as the first exhibition in our new rooms at Gutleutstrasse 8–12.

The formal basis of Adrian Nießler’s and Peter Müller’s joint project is a series of sketches based on illustrations of groups of scientists and research equipment from image databanks on the Internet.
The work frees person-oriented depictions of scientific research from their original framework, while associative captions shift it into constellations that generate new, narrative qualities. In a complex way, the series of drawings illustrates how a questionable self-dramatization of science takes place for the lay public when scientific procedures are communicated by the media. One can also view the series as a playful reformulation of ideas around “Big Science” and how it is portrayed visually, as well as the power conscious presentation of the complex of science in the media.

Adrian Nießler was born in 1978; he lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. Peter Müller was born in 1976; he lives in Offenbach, and works in Frankfurt am Main and Maastricht.
